Episode #1 – Beth Haslam https://www.buzzsprout.com/1588849/7299670

Author of the Fat Dogs & French Estates series of memoirs about Beth and her husband Mike’s move to France. Beth’s books are a joy, I have read all but her recent release. Mark Twain said “Truth is stranger than fiction… because fiction is obliged to stick to possibilities; Truth isn’t.” This is certainly the case with Beth. You really couldn’t make up the strange events or the eccentric cast of characters and animals who populate the property hunt, all of whom are portrayed beautifully by the author. The descriptions made me laugh out loud!

Episode #2 – Tony James Slater https://www.buzzsprout.com/1588849/7382317

If you haven’t read Tony James Slater yet, then you should! Tony’s curious combination of authoring talent encompasses Science Fiction and very humerous Travel Memoirs. I am more familiar with the latter; That Bear Ate My Pants is one of the funniest books I have read for some time, so it’s little wonder that it’s a No 1 bestseller!

Episode #3 – Kim Nash https://www.buzzsprout.com/1588849/7566640

Kim Nash writes uplifting, funny, heartwarming, feel-good, romantic fiction. Her latest book, Sunshine and Second Chances, was shortlisted for the 2020 Amazon Kindle Storyteller Award. Kim also won the Romantic Novelists Association’s Media Star of the Year in 2016. Her next book, Moonlight Over Muddleford Cove, will be published on 30th March 2021. Kim is a book blogger at www.kimthebookworm.co.uk

Episode #4 – Shawn Inmon https://www.buzzsprout.com/1588849/7684318

A terrific interview with Shawn, who gives an insight into the world of indie publishing and his life before authoring, which included “about 400 different jobs.” Shawn is now a full-time author and publisher. He has written 26 books, ranging from a memoir of being re-united with his first love (a story intriguingly written from both sides) to the Middle Falls and Alex Hawke time travel adventure series’.

Episode #5 Cara Hunter https://www.buzzsprout.com/1588849/7816522

Crime author, Cara Hunter, writes the hugely successful DI Fawley series of books, set around her home city of Oxford. Sunday Times Best Seller, Richard and Judy Book Club pick, million seller – and Cara’s book No Way Out was selected by the Sunday Times as one of the 100 best crime novels since 1945!

Episode #6 Hugh Howey https://www.buzzsprout.com/1588849/7952644

If you like science fiction, dystopian stories or if you are an indie author – listen to an indie superstar! Hugh Howey is the author of the award-winning Molly Fyde saga and the New York Times and USA Today bestselling WOOL series. The WOOL OMNIBUS won Kindle Book Review’s 2012 Indie Book of the Year Award and 40 countries have picked up the work for translation. Ridley Scott and Steve Zaillian are adapting the work for 20th Century Fox.

Episode #7 Val Poore https://www.buzzsprout.com/1588849/8024785

Val Poore left the UK with young children and lived in South Africa, before moving to The Netherlands, where she now lives aboard a Dutch Barge. Val has an excellent blog, Rivergirl, about her life on the barge in Rotterdam, and has written a number of beautifully entertaining and evocative memoirs about her travels at different stages of her life.

Episode #8Joe Cawley https://www.buzzsprout.com/1588849/8079054

Who would gave up life in a cold fish market and decide to move to Tenerife? Joe Cawley did, and became an award-winning author and travel writer to boot. His first book, More Ketchup than Salsa, was voted ‘Best Travel Narrative’ by the British Guild of Travel Writers and has gone on to sell over 100,000 copies. Joe’s work has been published in many national and international publications including The Sunday Times, New York Post, Conde Nast Traveller and Taipei Times.

Episode #9Andy Palmer https://www.buzzsprout.com/1588849/8134358

Andy Palmer is a brave soul; a recovering addict who wrote a book called Drowning: A Memoir about his journey through addiction and depression. His experience stands as a warning to us all about how easy it can be to slide down that slippery slope. His search for a reason to live took him from Barnsley to Texas and back to Dorset. Thankfully, Andy found redemption and is now happy, calm and sober.

A VERY BIG THANK YOU

I would like to send A VERY BIG THANK YOU to Alan for taking time out to interview me from Andalucia, and for his forbearance with the curiously poor internet that we have down here in darkest Dorset!

  1. That was a really great interview, Jackie!
Loved how you’ve told us where it all started … and was quite surprised that you were referring to the Beast as ‘her’ … 😉 … well, I can’t wait that the Beast gets on the road and you, Mark and the Fab Four can show us more beautiful places!!

  2. Thank you for your kind words and support! I was a little nervous – it’s a while since I’ve done any public speaking but I don’t think I made too much of an a**e of myselt!
The Beast is very feminine… all 4 x 10m and 23.5 tonnes of her! I can’t wait until she’s on the road! We drove up the road to Burley this morning to look at a bicycle. We have been staying within a couple of miles of home for months, so I was so excited to go somewhere different, even though it’s only up the road!
