I know that many of you are dog lovers, and have I got a treat for you!
I am privileged to have been given an Advance Review Copy of Kat the Dog, Alyson Sheldrake’s upcoming memoir about her rescued Spanish water dog, scheduled for release on 3rd May 2022.
I blubbed my way through the first part, which is a very powerful account of the awful treatment some poor pooches endure in Spain. However, the wonderful and committed people who step in to change their lot definitely brings the sun out again.
You will fall in love with Kat. She is clearly a very remarkable dog, and I loved the way Alyson pieced together her history by how Kat reacted to certain things. It brought back memories of Blade, the Transylvanian stray we brought back with us from Romania, who features in my book Dogs ‘n’ Dracula!
If you have ever had a special dog in your life, I am sure you will love this book as much as I do!
Kat the Dog is currently available on pre-order on Amazon. Besides being an emotional rollercoaster of a read, 15% of the earnings from this book will go to local dog rescue charities, so what better reason to bag your copy now?!

My previous books are also on offer in the lead up to the launch – this week is the turn of Dogs ‘n’ Dracula – A Road Trip Through Romania. Hunting dogs do suffer appalling treatment in Spain, I can imagine some of Kat’s story is pretty harrowing but it does sound like a great read and it will help raise awareness about the plight of such dogs.
Jackie your books are Excellent reads! The pandemic certainly presented its challenges. Good luck with this one.

Thank you, Sharon. I agree – this book really does highlight the awful suffering of some dogs.
I didn’t write this one; it’s by my author friend Alyson Sheldrake, but it was so wonderful I just had to share it!
