From Rat Race to Road Trip: Overlanding With Four Dogs!
The Salisbury Camping and Caravanning Club Site is located on the A345, just north of Salisbury, under the iron age ramparts of Old Sarum.
This blog is dedicated to Jenny and Marco, who want to see Stonehenge. However, it also has special relevance to us, since it is the first place that we stayed with Caravan Kismet and is inextricably linked to how we accidentally bought a caravan! When we made the decision to tour full-time, we got rid of most of our possessions. We sold many of them on eBay. I was new to eBay, so it was daunting at first, but there is lots of online help available on eBay.
Besides getting rid of clutter that we couldn’t store, we made a tidy sum to contribute to our travels!
Here, I have listed some of the hacks that worked for me.
I had a friend who was upset – actually depressed – by the amount of junk in her two spare rooms. She was a teacher, so I made a suggestion; “You get loads of holiday. Why don’t you use a couple of days when you’re husband’s at work to sort it out?”
“I’M not using MY holiday to sort out junk!” she spluttered. “Well if you’re not prepared to do that, you have only one option.” I said to her. “What’s that?” she asked eagerly. “Pray for a miracle!”
Step 1 – An Accidental Purchase 8th April
We accidentally bought our 7.34m of caravan heaven. She is a 4 berth, so the dogs are sorted. We are not yet sure where we will sleep, however…!
Step 2 – Some Sums 9th April
Ooooh. My head. We are both suffering from CCS – Caravan Celebration Syndrome.
Shame, as the equation to describe the day today was Wind + Sun + High Tide = Winning Windsurf Combo.
Sadly, the equation to describe Jackie and Mark is E = MC2 , where E = Energy, M = Motivation and C = Coffee.
