We have seen people drive away from campsites with their roof lights open, TV aerials up, and even their corner steadies down!
Checklists are the best way to ensure you don’t forget key aspects of setting up or packing up your caravan!
Here, I’ve prepared a printable version of the checklist I always use. Click the Download button to get your own copy in pdf format. I hope you find it helpful!
AD (After Dogs) - We retired early to tour Europe in a caravan with four dogs. "To boldly go where no van has gone before". Since 2021, we've been at large in a 24.5-tonne self-converted ex-army truck called The Beast.
BC (Before Canines) - we had adventures on every continent other than Antarctica!

Your caravan setup checklist is a great thing to share with fellow travelers!
Oh Jacq, you’ve got me smiling over breakfast…being a self confessed nerd I have a spreadsheet of tasks and to do’s and now after God knows how many years of caravanning we figure that we don’t need a list. Ha, pedestrians and fellow drivers wave and shout, as we drive by with the picnic table flapping, TV aerial up, van door open, bathroom roof hatch up or a 7 pin plug shredding on the tarmac. People are so friendly. Yep, we’ve done it all and those steadies are good for ploughing lawns too.

Born of five years on the road in a caravan…
It was in reply to a newbie caravanner who was a little daunted, so I hope it helps!

Those steadies do plough a good furrow! 🙂
Even WITH our list, we’ve departed with roof hatches up and minus our steps…
