Volvo Means ‘I Roll’: Moving Into An Expedition Rig

Finally, after a coronavirus lockdown that saw Mark and I trapped ‘in the brick’ for eight months, we are back on the road in The Beast, our new Volvo N10 expedition truck.

The conversion went entirely to plan. In fact, we finished the work early, which allowed us a couple of weeks to test all the systems and ensure everything was working perfectly when we finally set off.

Who am I kidding? This is Lambertshire. Nothing would ever go that smoothly with a brace of Truckin’ Idiots in charge!

MOT Misery & The Beast – Importing & Registering a Truck in the UK

My clothes smelled of diesel, my stomach was churning and my knuckles were white. For the first time, I’d heard the roar of The Beast, our new truck.

I’d had a sleepless night. Storm Alex had raged and pounded us with torrential rain. Worry Number 1 was that our van, Big Blue, would be so bogged down on the already sodden grass by the caravan that we wouldn’t even be able to go to collect The Beast to drive to her MOT.
