Confessions of a Nomadic Travel Writer – Jacqueline Lambert Q&A featured in The Writing Wall’s eMagazine

There’s something wonderfully surreal about talking about your own writing journey while parked up somewhere on the road with dogs snoring in the background and a kettle threatening to boil over. But somehow, that’s exactly where life has led me.

Coinciding with our 10 Year Vanniversary, I’m delighted to be featured in the May edition of What’s Your Story the The Writing Wall’s eMagazine.

In the interview, I reveal how one of my award-winning travel books ended up in the hands of Prince – now King Charles III – and the British Ambassador for Romania.

All because of windsurfing, dogs, and a blog about toilets!

If you fancy a peek behind the scenes of life on the road – including how a middle-aged couple, four dogs, and a large truck ended up wandering through Britain’s back roads in search of adventure – you can read the magazine here: The Writing Wall May 2026 eMagazine

You will also find poetry, book-inspired travel tips, and….

If you want to share YOUR story:

Submissions are now open for the fall/autumn editions of the What’s Your Story eMagazine, so why not send in your inspiring stories, engaging poetry, and thought-provoking podcast content. Please note there is no charge to be featured, it is simply a platform for independent authors to share their work with a creative community for zero cost.

I’ve written NINE comic memoirs about life since Mark and I gave up work and hit the road with our four dogs. My first series is called Adventure Caravanning With Dogs, because it’s caravanning – but not as you know it! Our aim was to Boldly Go Where No Van Has Gone Before – and that included towing along a footpath, over the Carpathian Mountains, and crossing two cornfields in Romania!

My multi-award-winning Wayward Truck series follows the story of how we bought a 24.5-tonne truck blind off the internet to convert into an off-grid home-on-wheels fit for a trip to Mongolia.

Although each is a standalone tale, the books are chronological in time.

AD (After Dogs) - We retired early to tour Europe in a caravan with four dogs. "To boldly go where no van has gone before". Since 2021, we've been at large in a 24.5-tonne self-converted ex-army truck called The Beast. BC (Before Canines) - we had adventures on every continent other than Antarctica!

  1. Wow Jackie. Congrats on the wonderful interview. And I love that ‘flipbook’ idea. I did read most of it and enjoyed learning your answers. Who was interviewing you? And thanks for the links, I’m going to check it out. How impressive King Charles read your book!!!! Hugs xx

  2. It was a written interview, but I was really impressed that the questions were not just generic author interview questions. Some thought had gone into it.

I am still have the thank you note from the now King, and the envelope franked Buckingham Palace!!! It was a shock when that dropped through the door, I can tell you!

    1. Well I thoroughly enjoyed it. And you must frame that envelope from Charles. 🙂 xx

(PS, I never get your replies to my comments in case you’re wondering if I’m seeing them. I have to log on here differently to most other blogs. WP doesn’t notify me of replies. 🥰) I saw this one because I was on your blog and looked for recent post to see if there was a reply, lol. A long way round, as you can see why I don’t do that all the time. WP glitches galore! xx
