Hi – I’m Jacqueline (‘Jackie’) Lambert, author of the Adventure Caravanning with Dogs series. My books are the true story of how my husband Mark and I gave up work, accidentally bought a caravan, then decided to rent out the house and tour Europe in her full time with The Fab Four, our beloved Cavapoos.
Our main objective is to get off the beaten track and To Boldly Go Where No Van Has Gone Before!
I was thrilled to be asked to host a live author Q&A: Spotlight Sunday on We Love Memoirs (WLM), a friendly Facebook group which connects memoir readers and authors worldwide.
So, if you want to know how we fund our travels, all about The Fab Four, our plans, the practicalities around travelling with dogs – or the latest on the conversion of The Beast, our new expedition truck, read on!
At the end, there is also a round up of some fabulous travel books, all of which will make great Christmas reading or presents!
The Number One thing to remember as borders open and life begins to return to some semblance of normal, is that Coronavirus has not gone away. There is still no vaccine, so there is nothing to halt the spread of the virus other than keeping up social distancing, hand washing and wearing PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) such as masks.
Such precautions are all that stands between each one of us and infection.
Prior to joining Mark on 4am starts, I loved to begin my working day in bed with a cup of tea and a book. It felt like a stolen moment; half an hour of ‘me’ time to collect myself before I had to face the daily scramble of dashing around the country to earn a living, variously selling blood banks, laser particle counters and high performance liquid chromatography systems.
Since we gave up work, morning is one of our favourite times. Having left behind the world of targets, deadlines and stress, it feels so luxurious to wake up naturally and ease ourselves into the day without rushing.
